The Role:

Having been in the business for three successful years we are now looking for an individual to head up our Cannabis Division. The President will be an exceptional Senior Cannabis Underwriter who will lead the team.

Attributes/Qualifications:

This individual will exhibit the following attributes and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Life Sciences/Cannabis underwriting or other relative experience
• Established and technically competent, with underwriting expertise and a proven track record of underwriting profits
• Prior experience in general liability, Excess and Property in all lines preferred
• Wholesale, MGA or carrier experience preferred
• Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, AMIM or comparable designations an advantage
• Proven self-starter with strong multi-tasking and relationship management skills
• A strong and sound following from local brokers and agents
• Results oriented, highly analytical, details and facts focused
• Looking to further develop their career in an environment that allows them to share in their success
• Solid working knowledge of technical underwriting and pricing and coverage issues
• Proven team leadership skills and experience

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and grow the book of Cannabis business
• Manage Cannabis renewals portfolio
• Develop distribution strategy agency partners and continue to develop broker relationships.
• Prequalify accounts and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound cannabis risks
• Underwrite, rate, quote and bind, profitable new and renewal Cannabis business to meet goals in agreement with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
• Monitor key metrics in respect to new business hit ratio, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratio
• Ability to travel nationwide with requirement of 1-2 marketing visits per month to visit brokers, attend conferences
• Lead and develop the Cannabis Division team sitting under you

Remuneration:

Curotech Specialty is looking to pay an exceptional and competitive remuneration package to attract a truly talented and experienced underwriter to add to and lead a high performing team. This will include an attractive base salary, bonus and usual company benefits.
